Christ Jesus, gentle and humble of heart, you never sought triumph. And yet when the crowd acclaimed you as you entered the city of peace on Palm Sunday, even though you knew that the time was near when you were to go right through to the end in the love that you came to show us, you welcomed their gladness. Since we are often faced with situations of violence or chaos, help us to seek for signs of your joy, of your presence, even when night descends. And then the trusting of faith tells us that with you, suffering will never have the final word.
