Christ on the cross, forsaken by everyone, you also felt that you were abandoned by God. In the times when God seems absent to us, you become present and you journey with us through what can appear like an impassable gulf. When there are questions that seem to have no answer, help us to live with them, and give us just enough light to be able to take the next step.

Our hearts give you thanks, Jesus, Son of the living God. In the face of the greatest trials, your deepest desire made you choose to stay with your friends and to celebrate the Passover with them. Today you wait for us around the table and as you offered yourself to them, you offer yourself to us. As we receive you, give us solidarity with those in whom you are present in the trials of the human family. Yes, may we be able to alleviate the sorrow of the least of your sisters and brothers.

Christ Jesus, no-one is shut out from your love. You gave your life for everyone. And as we seek life, a thirst grows in us day by day to forget ourselves humbly so as to live in you. Yes, to forget ourselves so as to come to life again with you.
