Dostoyevsky allows us to glimpse deep-seated doubts within him, but his love for Christ is not thereby called into question: “My ‘hosanna’ has passed through the crucible of doubt.” (8) His doubt was like a purifying fire that opened the way for a reflection of Christ to penetrate deep within him.
