Thursday morning March 3rd, Pope Francis received in a private audience the prior of the Taizé Community, Brother Alois, present in Rome for a few days. Among the topics they discussed were the welcome of young people in Taizé, the international meetings organized by the community and the search for communion among the Christian Churches.
As part of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Taizé brothers are leading throughout the Lenten season two daily prayers in the church of San Giovanni dei Fiorentini, located near St. Peter’s Basilica. Tuesday night March 1st, Brother Alois gave a talk at the Gregorian University in Rome on “the path of communion followed at Taizé.”
In England, the Church Times published, in its March 4th edition, a forum by Brother Alois on the issue of the welcome of refugees and migrants, under the title “Replacing fear with friendship.”
